More than 70 suspects arrested for illegal mining at Bundu Inn in Mohlakeng, West Rand District

An intelligence-driven #OperationProsper has resulted in the arrest of more than 70 suspects, including seven females, at Bundu Inn in Mohlakeng, West Rand District, on Friday, 10 July 2026.

The multidisciplinary operation, conducted by the Gauteng Police in collaboration with the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), is aimed at combating #IllegalMining activities and other related criminal offences in the area.

During the operation, police impounded two motor vehicles, seized more than 20 generators, and confiscated over 100 bags of gold-bearing material. The operation is still underway, and the number of arrests and recovered items may increase as law enforcement officers continue with the operation.
