Two suspects arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and live ammunition in the Thembisa area

On Thursday, 18 December 2025 at 10:00, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Northern Region Task Team Officers, arrested two (2) male suspects, aged thirty-two (32) and forty-nine (49) years, for possession of unlicensed firearms and live ammunition in the Thembisa area.

Acting on Crime Intelligence information about two males in possession of illegal firearms, Officers proceeded to a residence on Mauritius Street, where they found the first suspect. After questioning him, he led the Officers to the second suspect in Siphethweni section, who directed them to a backroom in the Maokeng section, where two firearms were recovered, a black Norinco 9mm with x3 live rounds and a black Astra 357 Magnum revolver with x4 live rounds. Both firearms had defaced serial numbers.

The suspects were detained at Thembisa Police Station and will soon appear in the Thembisa Magistrate’s Court.
