Tongaat SAPS arrested a male suspect during the early hours of Friday morning following a suspected murder incident in the Tongaat area.
KZNVIP Emergency Services were dispatched to a primary emergency call in the Tongaat area during the early hours of Friday morning. Upon arrival, emergency personnel were met by a male who directed them to a dense grass field nearby, where the body of an adult female was located.
KZNVIP medics conducted an assessment of the female and found no signs of life. The patient was declared deceased on scene. During the assessment, visible injuries were noted on the deceased, prompting concern among the medical personnel.
During interaction with the male on scene, his explanation of events was inconsistent with the observations made by the medics. The situation escalated when the male returned to his vehicle and a firearm became visible. Due to concerns for their personal safety, the medics immediately withdrew from the scene.
The KZNVIP crew proceeded directly to Tongaat SAPS to report the incident and the circumstances encountered. SAPS subsequently requested the medics to assist with a formal declaration of death at another home in tongaat. Shortly thereafter, information was received indicating that a local hospital had reported the arrival of a male accompanied by a deceased female.
SAPS, together with KZNVIP Emergency Services, responded to the hospital. The male was arrested and detained in connection with a suspected murder involving his spouse. A firearm was reportedly found in his possession at the time of arrest.
All relevant emergency services were in attendance, and the matter remains under investigation by Tongaat SAPS.
