WESTERN CAPE – The confiscation of firearms and drugs in the Western Cape continues as police members stay committed to create a safe environment for all people in the province.
Members of Khayelitsha SAPS received information of firearms at a spaza shop in Sulani Drive, Site B, Khayelitsha, on Thursday, 18 December 2025. They followed up the information at the identified premises and ensued with a search. A 9mm pistol and 13 rounds of ammunition were found inside the shop and a 27-year-old male was arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
He will appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ Court once he has been charged.
In an unrelated matter, Malmesbury police searched a premises in Alfa Street, Wesbank, Malmesbury, and seized 75 mandrax tablets, 15 half mandrax tablets and 37 sachets containing methamphetamine. A 43-year-old male was arrested for the possession of drugs, and he is due to appear in the Malmesbury Magistrates’ Court today.
