At approximately 23:55, reports of a shooting were received on Prickle Pear Road in Waterloo – KZN (Friday).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were immediately dispatched and on arrival found a 24-year-old male lying on the roadway. He was declared deceased on scene.
It is alleged that shortly before the incident, the male received a phone call and left his home. Moments later, several gunshots were heard. His mother reported that he had recently been released from prison and may have had ongoing conflicts. She did not specify reasons for his incarceration.
Three (3) 9mm spent cartridges were recovered.
