PVES responders, practitioners, and a doctor attended to a patient experiencing a serious cardiac event.
On arrival, the patient was found lying in bed with severe chest pain, shortness of breath, pain radiating to the jaw, and significant sweating.
An IV line was established, and analgesia and antiemetics were administered to manage the patient’s pain and associated symptoms.
Due to the severity of the patient’s presentation and concern for a significant cardiac event, PVES authorised a private ambulance to ensure the patient could be transported without delay to an appropriate medical facility.
The cost of the private ambulance was covered by PVES using donations received from the public.
At the hospital, a 12-lead ECG confirmed that the patient was experiencing a heart attack. He was subsequently transferred to the appropriate facility for specialised cardiac care.
