A 46-year-old woman, Witty Morategi Malikana, appeared before the Kgapane Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 18 September 2026, facing a charge of dealing in dagga. She was remanded in custody and the matter was postponed to 22 September 2026 for further police investigations.
The arrest follows a multidisciplinary operation conducted by the Mopani Tracking Team and supporting law enforcement agencies after information was received from E2 Border regarding a suspicious maroon Toyota Hilux 2.8 travelling along the R36 towards Tzaneen.
According to reports, on Thursday, 17 September 2026, at approximately 12:00, police received information about the vehicle.
At around 13:15, members of the Mopani Tracking Team spotted a vehicle matching the description just after Mokgoba Village. The vehicle was intercepted and stopped in the Modjadjiskloof area for inspection.
Upon searching the vehicle, police discovered 19 compressed bags of dagga concealed inside. The suspect who was the driver, was immediately arrested for dealing in dagga.
The recovered dagga was subsequently weighed and found to have a combined weight of 196.905 kilograms, with an estimated street value of R108 350.00. The dagga, vehicle, and cellular phones were seized as part of the investigation.
The operation was executed by the Mopani Tracking Team, with support from Modjadjiskloof #VisiblePolicing, Highway Patrol (HNW), Hoshani Security, and the K9 Anti-Hijacking Unit.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Jan Scheepers, commended the members involved in the successful operation and the #SAPS commitment to combating drug trafficking and related crimes in the province.
Police investigations are continuing.
