A mother and her adult daughter were shot and killed at their residence in Amaoti – KZN this afternoon (Wednesday, 17/06/2026).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were dispatched to the scene at approximately 20:38 following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, Reaction Officers interviewed the husband and father of the deceased women.
He stated that he, his wife and their daughter were seated in the living room when he heard a noise emanating from the kitchen area. As he proceeded to investigate, he encountered two (2) unidentified suspects dressed in black clothing and wearing face masks who had gained entry to the residence through the kitchen door.
According to the man, he immediately alerted his wife and daughter before fleeing towards a bedroom. The suspects then entered the living room, overpowered the two (2) women and opened fire multiple times before fleeing the property.
Reaction Officers discovered the bodies of the deceased mother and daughter covered with blankets. Three (3) spent cartridges were recovered on scene. A preliminary assessment indicated that no property appeared to have been stolen from the residence.
The motive for the double assassination has not been established.
