The Welkom Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) continue in their efforts to curb drug networks in the Lejweleputswa District. Two males aged 44 and 58 were arrested for possession of drugs in Bultfontein.
It is alleged that on Friday, 22 May 2026 members attached to the Welkom AGU were conducting crime combating duties in Phahameng location. They then gathered information on criminal hot spots and illegal activities. Information led them to the first identified address where a search was conducted and a 58-year-old male was found in possession of suspected drugs. He was subsequently arrested.
Members continued to the second identified house. On arrival a search was conducted and a 44-year-old male suspect was arrested for possession of drugs.
Police confiscated ziplock bags containing crystal meth, CAT drugs, mandrax tablets and money suspected to be proceeds of crime. The total value of the seized drugs is estimated to be around R12 000.
The two suspects are expected to appear before the Bultfontein Magistrate’s court soon on charges of possession of suspected drugs.
