While following up on information relating to a shooting incident at a known drug den, in the Phoenix area, members of the Durban Metro Police Service EITT received further intelligence regarding stolen copper in the vicinity.
This led to the arrest of a 35-year-old male. The suspect was found in possession of approximately 23kg of copper and 6kg of brass with an estimated street value of R40 000, as well as R3 190 believed to be proceeds of crime.
He was arrested and charged with:
• Section 36
• Section 37
• Possession of proceeds of crime
The suspect was processed at Phoenix South African Police Service Station.
