Police in Nebo, Sekhukhune District in Limpopo, have launched a manhunt for unknown suspects following a murder and robbery incident in which a 74-year-old headman was brutally killed at Mathukhumela Village on Monday, 02 February 2026, at approximately 18:00.
Police were summoned to the scene following a report of an attack at a local residence. Upon arrival, the members found the victim inside the house, tied up and lying in a pool of blood with multiple open wounds.
He was certified dead at the scene.
The deceased was identified as Mr Ntshweng Joseph Ramphisa (74), a well-known and respected headman of Mathukhumela Village.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim’s relative was returning home when she noticed a white bakkie parked next to the gate and observed a male suspect exiting the house carrying a television set. Upon entering the house, she discovered the victim tied up and bleeding. Another suspect then tied her up, while both suspects allegedly continued to assault the elderly man with a sharp object. The suspects later fled the scene. The relative sought assistance from members of the community.
Further investigations revealed that some rooms in the house were ransacked.
A case of murder and robbery has been opened. The suspects are still at large, and investigations are continuing.
