The Deputy Minister of Police, Dr Polly Boshielo, led a high-level #SaferFestiveSeason Operations inspection in Mankweng, Capricorn District, as part of the South African Police Service’s intensified national drive to combat crime, enhance police visibility and ensure safer communities during the busy festive period and ahead of the 2026 New Year.
Accompanied by senior SAPS leadership, including the Limpopo Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the Deputy Minister assessed the readiness, effectiveness and coordination of festive season policing operations across the province. The inspection focused on law-enforcement preparedness, proactive crime prevention, multi-disciplinary collaboration and partnership policing.
Addressing the parade, Deputy Minister Boshielo commended Limpopo for being declared the safest province in the country, attributing the achievement to decisive leadership and the dedication of SAPS members. She applauded the strong collaboration between SAPS, municipalities, traditional leadership, Community Policing Forums, faith-based organisations and other strategic partners.
The Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Thembi Hadebe, highlighted the near completion of the long-overdue Mankweng Police Station, noting the precinct’s large and highly active population, including several institutions of higher learning. She further announced plans to establish a 24-hour satellite police station to strengthen service delivery.
SAPS members were encouraged to continue serving communities with professionalism, dedication and loyalty. Appreciation was also extended to all stakeholders, including CPF, Community in Blue, YCOP structures, government departments and strategic partners, whose collaboration remains critical in ensuring a safe and peaceful festive season in Limpopo.
