WESTERN CAPE – Continued interventions to fight gang violence in communities in the Western Cape yielded success when police members confiscated firearms in the hands of criminals in separate incidents.
On Sunday afternoon, 14 December 2025, members of the Anti-Gang Unit deployed in Cloetesville, received in information of firearms that are hidden under a tree on an open field in Bell Street. They followed up the information and found a 9mm pistol with ammunition hidden in the ground. The investigation into the discovery of the firearm are under investigation and no arrests have been made.
In an unrelated matter, Steenberg SAPS members arrested a 36-year-old male when he was found in possession of .38 Special revolver with eight rounds of ammunition. The members were conducting stop and search operations in Military Road, when they searched the suspect and found him in possession of the firearm.
The suspect will appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ court tomorrow.
