Two people were killed and eight others injured this morning when a bakkie rolled off the R57/R59 split and crashed into a pylon in the Sasolburg area.
ER24 paramedics received the call at 03h10 and responded to the scene.
Upon our arrival, paramedics found provincial services already in attendance, assessing the patients. A bakkie was found lying on its roof up against a large pylon.
On closer inspection, paramedics found two bodies lying partially beneath the overturned bakkie. Unfortunately, both patients had already succumbed to their multiple injuries. Nothing could be done for them and they were declared dead.
Eight other patients were found on the scene. Paramedics assessed them and found that they had sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious.
The patients were treated for their injuries and were thereafter transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
