How do you get TomTom on your IPhone?

At the end of June we added a report on this blog titled “TomTom develops navigation solution for iPhone”. The TomTom’s navigation software was demonstrated in combination with a specially designed car kit on the iPhone- during Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco on June 8th, 2009.

But how does this work and what do the users say about this feature on the IPhone?

I have found this brilliant video on YouTube: Click on the Iphone Image

  1. I attended a product launch yesterday and one of the things Joost Jetten, VP of sales for TomTom Sub Sahara Africa, spoke about was TomTom ‘Live Services’. Basically these are services available when your TomTom GPS is combined with a SIM card. You are able to receive all kinds of real-time information such as traffic warnings, etc. For example, if you are hungry you can check your GPS for restaurants nearby, click on the restaurant to download more information and even dial the number to make a reservation, all from your PND (Personal Navigation Device). I haven’t played with the TomTom iPhone app yet, but I assume this will be the type of functionality available. I’ll download via iTunes when I get a chance.

  2. has anyone got a hint on when is tomtom planning a release of the southern africa app?
Every other map has been released except this one?!?

  3. Hello,

We are working on it to launch the Map in the fourth quarter of this year. Not every other map has been released yet. At the moment we are finalizing our quality checks
