TomTom gives back to the community and vulnerable children

kidz Johannesburg, December 2009 – KidsRights, a Dutch based organisation, offers well run local projects and long term support to vulnerable children all over the world that covers, healthcare; nutrition; education and accommodation. On 1 November 2007, KidsRights established a company that manufacture cuddly toys called The Cuddle Company based in Sizanani, Bronkhorstspruit, where they offer employment to people in the community who are infected with HIV/AIDS. The first toy made by the factory was a ‘Zep’, a soft and colourful mix of a zebra and a parrot.

These cuddly toys are sold across the globe and proceeds go towards the Sizanani community-based care programme. The programme aims to provide direct support tailored to the needs of orphans, children living with AIDS and other vulnerable children. The toys are manufactured in South Africa and exported to Holland.

TomTom South Africa, purchased 500 of these cuddly toys this Christmas and for every ‘Zep’ purchased, one will be donated to an underprivileged child in townships all over the world. For more information regarding the cuddle company visit, www.thecuddlecompany.org .

‘Zep’ is a symbol of hope, and thanks to the Sizanani project, KidsRights has been able to give over 1000 children help towards a brighter future.
