Just after 08:00 the Volunteer Emergency Medical Response Unit received a call from Garsfontein SAPS members for a structure fire in the Garsfontein area of Pretoria East. On arrival we found that a fire which originated in the garage had started spreading to the main residential structure. Our team assisted City of Tshwane Firefighters before being joined by Fidelity SecureFire and Fire Ops Firefighters. Together we managed to stop the fire from spreading into the house and extinguish it. 2 patients were treated on scene before being transported to a nearby hospital by a private ambulance.
The cause of the fire is not yet known and will be subject to an investigation by the City of Tshwane Emergency Services.
