The Durban Metro Police Service Albert Park Sweep Team successfully apprehended a robbery suspect following a swift response during a sweep operation conducted at the intersection of David Webster Street and Joe Slovo Street.
Members observed a male suspect forcibly snatch a woman’s weave before fleeing over the railway bridge.
The suspect then hid inside a dark culvert beneath the bridge in an attempt to evade arrest.
With the assistance of Railway Security officials, who provided lighting support using torches, members conducted a search of the culvert and successfully located and apprehended the suspect. The stolen property was recovered in the suspect’s possession.
The suspect was arrested, and the team proceeded to Durban Central SAPS for further processing and case registration.
