Two suspects were successfully apprehended on Tuesday afternoon in the Parkgate area of Verulam through the coordinated efforts of KZN VIP members, Rusa, Telesecure security and vigilant community members.
The suspects were allegedly wanted in connection with multiple rape cases reported in the area and had reportedly been evading arrest by South African Police Service and other law enforcement agencies for some time.
It is alleged that the suspects attempted to commit another crime on Tuesday, prompting community members to pursue them before security teams intervened. A swift response by all involved led to the successful apprehension of both suspects.
The suspects were subsequently handed over to police and placed into custody for further investigation.
The victim was assessed on scene by KZN VIP medical teams. All emergency services were in attendance.
