Yesterday evening, Mi7 Reaction Officers patrolling the Pietermaritzburg CBD spotted a man who matched the description of a suspect wanted for a string of alleged burglaries in the Clarendon area.
Armed Response teams had previously attended several housebreaking incidents, from premises in Clarendon belonging to clients and community members, where they obtained camera footage and images of the suspect. While on patrol last night, the Reaction Officer, who is dedicated to protecting the area, observed the suspect attempting to flee from the perimeter of a property on North Road.
The suspect was swiftly pursued and successfully cornered, preventing any escape.
Upon further investigation, it was confirmed that the individual apprehended was the same suspect linked to the incidents in the Clarendon area.
The suspect was then handed over to the police.
