On Monday 20 April 2026 at 12:10, members deployed in Mfuleni area arrested a 21-year-old male for possession of a homemade firearm.
The members were patrolling in Armarda Street, Wesbank, when they saw a suspicious looking male throwing a black item into a spaza shop and upon further investigation it was found to be a homemade firearm. He was arrested and detained at Mfuleni SAPS.
Later the same day, a 35-year-old male was arrested for the possession of an imitation firearm at a premises in Arogen Street, Wesbank. The members were doing crime prevention patrols when information was received regarding firearms at the mentioned address. They immediately followed up on the information which led to the arrest of the suspect.
Operation Prosper members deployed in Steenberg area received information of drugs at a premises in Berstein Road, Retreat. Upon searching the premises where they found a 42-year-old male, the members arrested him for the possession of 12 half mandrax tablets, one whole mandrax tablet and 13 sachets of tik.
In the Philippi area the members arrested a 31-year-old male for dealing in drugs in Surren Road, Hanover Park. The members were doing stop and searches when they saw the suspect and searched him. He was found to be in possession of 12 sachets containing tik, five mandrax tablets, 11 units heroin and a undisclosed amount of cash believed to be the proceeds of drugs.
Once charged the suspects will appear respectively in the Blue Downs, Athlone and Wynberg Magistrate’s Courts for their respective charges.
