Police Detectives at the Polokwane Stock Theft and Endangered Species (STES) in Limpopo are calling on members of the community to come forward and assist in identifying a number of goats that were recently recovered during an operation conducted along the R81 and R71 off-ramps near Mall of the North in Polokwane on Monday, 23 March 2026.
Members of the Limpopo Provincial Flying Squad were performing routine patrol duties when they came across a bronze Isuzu bakkie with a canopy parked along the roadside. Upon inspection, the vehicle was found to be loaded with 20 goats.
The driver indicated that he was transporting the livestock to an auction; however, he was unable to provide the required documentation. Additionally, discrepancies were noted in the available documents, and some of the goats did not have visible identification markings.
Police from the Polokwane Stock Theft and Endangered Species (STES) Unit took custody of the livestock. The goats were initially taken to the Polokwane SPCA for safekeeping and assessment, and have since been moved to Mokopane SPCA where they are being kept for care and identification purposes.
Police are now appealing to any community members who may have lost goats or who can assist in identifying the rightful owners to come forward.
