The Welkom #AntiGangUnit has arrested a 24-year-old man from Hlatseng Village in Qwaqwa, following community information regarding the illegal possession of a firearm.
In the early hours of Monday, at about 04:00, members operationalised the information and proceeded to a house in Hlatseng Village. During a search, police discovered a 9mm pistol with an empty magazine hidden inside a wardrobe.
The suspect was immediately arrested and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm. He is expected to appear before the Tseki Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 10 February 2026, facing a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm.
