On Saturday, 24 October 2026 police were summoned to a complaint of alleged stock theft at a farm in Winburg. Members swiftly responded and the white Isuzu bakkie with a trailer was stopped and an investigation was conducted.

According to reports, on Saturday morning the 52-year-old complainant went to the kraal to conduct a routine check. On his arrival, he noticed vehicle tyre marks on the ground and some of the calves were also suspiciously too close to the gate. He allegedly also noticed a white Isuzu bakkie driving away from the farm.

Private security and the police were immediately informed and the vehicle was stopped.

Ten (10) Bonsmara calves were positively identified by the complainant after they were discovered in the trailer.

Police seized a white Isuzu bakkie and the trailer presumably used in the commission of the crime and booked them in as evidence.

The 59-year-old suspect was subsequently arrested and he will appear in Winburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
