The Anti-Economic Crime Task Team continues to clamp down on drug networks in the Cape Flats, Western Cape. In collaboration with the Provincial Counterfeit and Illicit Goods Policing Team, they seized 340 mandrax tablets at Kleinvlei Eerste River, in the early hours of Tuesday 25 August 2026.
The teams acted on intelligence and conducted a search at a house in Spandau Road where they found a 38-year-old male suspect. A total of 340 mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R20 000 were confiscated.
The suspect was arrested for possession of drugs and will appear before the Blue downs Magistrate’s Court once he has been charged.
Meanwhile, members of the #AntiGangUnit arrested a 43-year-old gang affiliated male for possession of a prohibited firearm in Manenberg. The team was deployed in the area amidst ongoing gang violence. While patrolling, they received information pertaining to a firearm at a house in Rhone Walk, Manenberg. On arrival, they recovered a firearm without a serial number.
Once charged, the suspect will make his first court appearance before the Athlone Magistrate’s Court.
