Approximately R1 800 in cash and vouchers, two (2) cellphones and a speed point machine were stolen during an armed robbery at a tuck shop in Blackburn – KZN today (Tuesday, 14/07/2026).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to the scene at approximately 11:37. On arrival, Reaction Officers interviewed the complainant who reported that four (4) suspects arrived in a black Suzuki Swift.
It was established that the driver remained seated in the vehicle while two (2) suspects stood guard at the entrance. A fourth suspect entered the tuck shop armed with a firearm and held the cashier at gunpoint before stealing approximately R1 000 in cash, two (2) cellphones (a Huawei model that could not be confirmed and an Honor X5) as well as a speed point machine.
Before fleeing, one (1) of the suspects discharged a single round into the air. The suspects later withdrew approximately R800 in vouchers using the stolen speed point machine before discarding it on the side of the road.
According to the complainant, two (2) of the suspects were armed with 9mm handguns. One (1) spent cartridge was recovered at the scene.
