Armed robbers breached a shop through a hole made in a wall in Cottonlands – KZN during the early hours of today (Tuesday, 23/06/2026).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were dispatched at approximately 01:09 after receiving reports of an armed robbery in progress.
On arrival, Reaction Officers observed a hole in the wall (picture 1) near the entrance that had been used to gain entry. According to the complainant, he resides in the store. Four (4) suspects with their faces concealed by masks and armed with firearms used a pick to break through the wall and gained access into the premises.
The suspects also attempted to force open the cashier’s cage but were unsuccessful and no cash was stolen.
Various items were taken, however the exact inventory could not immediately be established.
The complainant further reported that four (4) shots were fired outside the premises before the suspects fled in an unknown direction.
A spent 9mm cartridge casing and two (2) live 9mm rounds were recovered in front of the building.
No injuries were reported
