The #SAPS in the North West have arrested three suspects for stock theft after they were allegedly found in possession of suspected stolen cattle during the early hours of Thursday morning, 21 May 2026.
Members of Provincial Intelligence received information regarding a white Isuzu bakkie towing a trailer in the Derby/Ventersdorp area. Following up on the information, investigations revealed that the vehicle was travelling towards Parys in the Free State, while loaded with cattle.
All relevant role players, including members of the SAPS in Parys, were activated and community members also assisted in the operation.
The suspects were intercepted and found to be in possession of ten cattle. They failed to provide proof of ownership or a satisfactory account thereof and were immediately arrested for possession of suspected stolen livestock.
Further investigations positively linked the suspects to a stock theft case that had been reported earlier in Potchefstroom. The livestock was later handed over to its rightful owner.
The three suspects, aged between 20 and 40 years, are expected to appear before the Parys Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 25 May 2026 for being in possession of suspected stolen property. Investigation in to the matter continues.
