The Welkom SAPS conducted a roadblock operation on Wednesday, 29 April 2026. The operation was held at Jan Hofmeyer Road alongside their local traffic counterparts. The operation was led by the Welkom Visible Policing Commander, Lt Colonel Mathoka-Molapisi.
The operation was focused on the execution of stop and searches of vehicles and persons. Inspections were conducted to determine unroadworthy vehicles. Furthermore, vehicles were searched for possession of stolen and illicit goods, unlicensed firearms, and to ensure safety compliance by all road users.
During the operation, several fines were issued to motorists for traffic violations. Members engaged with motorists providing safety tips and hints on crime and road safety awareness.
