Excellent partnership between Hlababomvu police and the communities they serve led to the arrest of a 29-year-old male suspect for unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm with ammunition, unlawful discharging of a firearm and malicious damage to property in Mlaza locality, Lutshaya A/A on Saturday, 28 March 2026 at about 17:10.
It is alleged that the 29-year-old male suspect randomly discharged a firearm at his home and also shot at doors, damaging them. Community members quickly gathered at the identified homestead, disarmed the male suspect and held him until police’s arrival. No one was injured during the shooting spree. It transpired that the suspect had no licence to possess such a firearm with an erased serial number.
The arrested male suspect is due to appear before the Lusikisiki Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 30 March 2026 facing charges of unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, unlawful discharging of firearm and malicious damage to property.
