Members of #OperationLockdown3 arrested a 28-year-old male suspect for dealing in drugs on Sunday, 01 March 2026.
The suspect was on the police’s radar for suspected drug activity. He was apprehended at his home in Armando Road, Bonteheuwel, following a search of the premises which resulted in the recovery of 70 mandrax tablets and 138 sachets of tik.
Once charged, he will appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s Court.
Meanwhile, a 32-year-old gun-wielding male suspect was stopped in his tracks at the Nyanga Bus Terminus. The Public Order Police took notice of two males running towards the taxi rank and closely monitored their movements. As they approached the ATMs, one of them pulled out a firearm and pointed it at people who were in the queue.
Members swiftly disarmed and restrained the suspect. A Tokarev 54 pistol, with six rounds of ammunition was confiscated and booked in as evidence. The suspect will make his first court appearance in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court once he has been charged.
