Two Venomous Snakes Captured: Parkgate – KZN

Two (2) venomous snakes were safely captured and relocated from a residential property on Knightsbridge Road in Parkgate – KZN following a call for assistance today (Monday).

The RUSA Operations Center received a call for assistance after a resident spotted the reptiles. Reaction Officer Bryson Bisnath to the property. Upon arrival, the Officer identified the snakes as two (2) Boomslangs.

The snakes were located in a garden at the rear of the property. Both were safely captured without incident and removed from the premises.

The snakes were identified as a male and female, measuring approximately 1.6 metres and 1.4 metres in length respectively.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) is in possession of a permit issued by Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife authorising Reaction Officers, in their official capacity, to capture, temporarily possess, keep in captivity, release and translocate certain species of reptiles, amphibians and vertebrates.

No protected animals will be disposed of in any manner without prior approval from the Local District Conservation Officer.
