A 39-year-old foreign national was arrested on Friday, 30 January 2026 for dealing in and possession of drugs.
The arrest was effected during a joint operation conducted by members of the Johannesburg Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation (SOCI) team, Ekurhuleni Community Liaison, Ekurhuleni Intervention Unit, Headquarters Crime Intelligence, K9 West Rand, Pretoria Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), and Germiston Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC).
On Wednesday, 28 January 2026, information was received by the police about a suspect who is allegedly operating an illegal drug laboratory in Ekurhuleni district, Cruywagen Park area. The police followed up on the information. On Friday, 30 January 2026, the police visited the area and searched the premises. During the search police discovered 8 kilogram Cat and 2 kilogram Crystal meth to the estimated value of more than R1 million.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Germiston Magistrates Court on Monday, 02 February 2026.
