The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Intervention Unit, K9 Unit, and Bronberg Special Operations Officers, along with the South African Police Service (SAPS) Officers and Gauteng Traffic Police, arrested four (4) suspects linked to a business robbery and recovered three (3) firearms.
Officers received information about suspects involved in multiple business robberies, including a recent cellphone shop robbery in Actonville. A white Suzuki matching the suspect vehicle description was spotted and stopped on Voortrekker Road in Benoni. Inside were three (3) male suspects and two bags containing various cellphones.
The suspects led the Officers to the Daveyton Hostel, where a fourth suspect was found. A search of the premises uncovered x3 firearms, which x2 were unlicensed and x1 with defaced serial numbers, along with x39 rounds of live ammunition.
All four (4) suspects were detained at Benoni and Daveyton Police Stations, facing charges of business robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms and possession of stolen property. They are expected to appear in court soon.
