Two suspects aged 27 and 32 were arrested by Ngcobo SAPS members in the evening of 29 December 2025. The 27-year-old suspect was arrested for allegations of possession and dealing in drugs while the 32-year-old suspect was arrested for possession, dealing in drugs and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Ngcobo Crime Prevention Unit (CPU) members followed up on information about a community member that was in possession of unlicensed firearm and also selling drugs.
Police officers from the CPU proceeded to the address at Maxeleqwini Shacks in Ngcobo Town. There, they met and engaged with a 32-year-old person of interest. The officers identified themselves, advised the individual of the reason for their visit, and requested permission to conduct a search, which was granted. Upon searching the individual, ten (10) straws containing Tik were found in the right pocket of his trousers, and one (1) shotgun with a brown handle and silver fore-end was found concealed on the left side of his waist. Cash in the amount of R50 was also seized. The suspect was then placed under arrest.
In another unrelated incident, Ngcobo police proceeded to a car wash at Elliot road where they met with a 27-year-old whom upon searching him as per his permission, found on the right side pocket of his pants a transparent money bag with seventeen (17)tik tik straws, (04) four full boss tablet and a (R100) one hundred rands notes were found.
Police officers questioned the suspect about the drugs and cash,to which he allegedly confessed to dealing. He was subsequently arrested on the spot.
Both suspects are due to appear before the Ngcobo Magistrate’s court soon.
