Earlier this evening, acting on intelligence received, Ensure Security’s dedicated Tactical Response Team for the Mount Edgecombe area conducted observations on a group of males reportedly involved in the sale of narcotics.
During the operation, officers noted suspicious activity and moved in to intercept the individuals. A foot chase ensued, resulting in the detention of one suspect. The individual, a 15-year-old male, was found in possession of multiple packets of dagga packaged for sale, along with additional drug-related paraphernalia.
Ensure Security officers immediately requested assistance from the South African Police Services. Despite several follow-up calls and an extended waiting period, police did not arrive at the scene.
In accordance with due process and given the suspect’s age, the individual was released on a warning pending further follow-up by the relevant authorities.
