Power supply interruptions resulting from vandalism of electricity infrastructure causing faulty equipment in Ekurhuleni

The City’s technicians are out and about attending to various power supply interruptions resulting from vandalism of electricity infrastructure causing faulty equipment.

Affected areas include #Germiston, #Boksburg and #Benoni.

In Germiston technicians are attending to multiple faults identified on the 33kV cable affecting:

*Gosforth Park;

*Airport Park;

*Denlee;

*Parkhill Gardens;

*Lambton;

*Hazel Park;

*Hazeldene;

*Mimosa Park;

*Lambton Gardens;

*Castleview;

*Stone Arch; and

*Sigma Road.

Our team in the Benoni area is still investigating the cause of the power outage affecting:

Mayfield;

Kingsway; and

Crystal Park.

Meanwhile, in Boksburg a fire broke out at the Witkoppie substation in the early hours of this morning affecting power supply to the following areas:

– Atlasville;

– Part of Beyers Park;

– Impala Park;

– Bartlett; and

– Part of Bardene.

These areas will remain off until a contingency plan to restore the panels affected by fire is made. Further update will follow later during the course of the day.
