Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called to Bridgeford Drive in Mountview – KZN today (Thursday) following several reports of a large-scale altercation involving children and adults.
According to witnesses, a group of approximately 40 minors attacked four men at a tuck shop, pelting them with bricks and bottles. During the confrontation, a primary school learner allegedly drew a panga from his school bag. Bystanders managed to disperse the crowd before the arrival of Reaction Officers.
The incident follows a similar attack yesterday afternoon in Parkgate – KZN, where the same group reportedly assaulted the same four men. One of the victims sustained a hip injury during the attack (picture 2). The motive behind the assaults remains unknown.
Residents believe that adults may be influencing or recruiting these children to participate in gang-related violence.
