CAPE TOWN – Continued interventions to fight gang violence in the Western Cape led to the arrest of a suspect for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition on Friday night, 07 November 2025.
Members of the Anti-Gang Unit were busy with patrols in Ottery Marble Flats when they saw a male in Woodgate Court who started running when he saw the police. The members gave chase on foot and apprehended the suspect. Upon searching the suspect, a 9mm pistol and 28 rounds of ammunition, were found in his possession. The 24-year-old suspect was arrested.
The same members arrested a 27-year-old male for the illegal possession of ammunition when a search was conducted at premises in Ottery during which five rounds of ammunition were found in the house.
Both suspects will appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ court on Monday, 10 November 2025, on the mentioned charges, respectively.
