In the early hours of this morning, ET Rapid Response were notified via the CCPO radio network of suspects in a white Toyota allegedly stealing electrical cable.
Our Rapid Response units along with the CCPO supervisor responded to the area; however, the suspects had already left the scene.
Further investigation revealed cut cables hanging from poles along North Way, Warner Beach – confirming the extent of the damage.
A short while later, information was received that the suspects had returned and were actively stealing more cable. Two ET Rapid Response vehicles immediately responded, resulting in a pursuit as the suspects attempted to flee towards the N2.
Our Rapid Response units successfully stopped the suspect vehicle near Prospecton industrial area, one suspect managed to flee into the surrounding bush and was later arrested by ET Rapid Response after an extensive search.
During a search of the vehicle, SAPS members discovered rolls of suspected stolen cable inside.
The suspects and vehicle were subsequently taken to Amanzimtoti SAPS for further investigation and the appropriate legal process.
