A joint operation conducted by detectives from Giyani and Sekgosese, within the Mopani District, has resulted in the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of two firearms and four magazines during investigations into a common robbery case.
On Tuesday, 15 September 2026, detectives from Giyani, together with their counterparts from Sekgosese, followed up on information regarding suspects allegedly linked to a common robbery committed in the Sekgosese policing area on Sunday, 13 September 2026.
The operation led the detectives to Olifantshoek Village, within the Hlanganani policing area, where a 33-year-old suspect was arrested.
During the operation, two firearms and four empty magazines were recovered.
Preliminary information indicates that one of the recovered firearms allegedly belongs to a victim who was robbed at Mamaila Village on 13 September 2026.
A case of possession of an unlicensed firearm was registered at Hlanganani Police Station, and the 33-year-old suspect remains in police custody.
Meanwhile, the detectives arrested a second suspect, aged 26, in connection with the common robbery case.
Both suspects are expected to appear before the Hlanganani Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 17 September 2026, facing charges of common robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Detectives are continuing with investigations and gathering information to locate the three remaining suspects allegedly linked to the cases.
