An intensive investigation into a burglary where a firearm was stolen led to the arrest of a 37-year-old man who is scheduled to appear before the George Magistrates’ court on Monday, 27 July 2026.
On Friday, 24 July 2026 George police members, Outeniqua K9 Unit and Noll’s Halt Farm Watch members responded to a burglary which was reported at a premises situated at De Vlugt in Herold outside George earlier this week. The investigation took police to a bush near the scene where the safe was concealed. A firearm and an undisclosed amount of cash were recovered.
The suspect, who was positively linked to the burglary, remains in custody. He is facing charges of housebreaking and theft as well a charge of unlawful possession of firearm.
Garden Route District police management commended all role-players for their efforts to bring the perpetrator to book. This arrest and recovery of the stolen items are testament of what could be achieved when police and the community works together.
