An operation conducted by the Provincial Organised Crime Tracing Team and Gauteng Pers Flexi on 28 May 2026, resulted in the arrest of four suspects and the recovery of three firearms.
The team followed up on information about a group of armed men driving around Yeoville. The vehicle was identified and three occupants were found inside. Upon searching the vehicle, the team found two pistols and an AK-47 rifle. The three suspects were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
While the scene was being processed, another man arrived and claimed that one of the confiscated firearms belonged to him. He was also placed under arrest for negligent handling of a firearm.
All three suspects are expected to appear before court on 01 June 2026, on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, while the fourth suspect will face a charge of negligent handling of a firearm.
