Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) responded to reports of a mob assault Neptune Drive in Riet River – KZN yesterday afternoon (Wednesday).
The victim informed Reaction Officers that he was confronted by three (3) suspects, two (2) of whom were armed with handguns. The suspects forced entry into his residence, held him at gunpoint, and fled with a Samsung flat-screen television and a smartphone.
Two (2) robbers managed to flee, while the third was apprehended by members of the community. A large crowd of approximately 40 people was found surrounding the suspect when Reaction Officers arrived, with a few individuals actively assaulting him.
The suspect sustained multiple injuries, including head and rib injuries. The stolen television was recovered on a nearby pathway.
The suspect was handed over to Police for further investigation.
