TMPD still embarking on enforcing the law during the ending of festive holidays

On Friday, 02 January 2026, TMPD conducted highly intensive operations around all areas of the City of Tshwane to ensure the safety and compliance of all vehicles operating on the public road and prevent movements and entering of elligal goods in our City.

TMPD public transport unit conducted an operation at Simon Vermoeten and Alvyn Street in Mamelodi, the members impounded 4+1 motor vehicles operating illegally for reward without prescribed operating licences and issued section 56 and AARTO 1 infringement notices.

Pedestrian Unit carried out visible policing in all surrounding areas. On N4 (Witbank) and Solomon Mahlangu Drive they managed to arrest two females.

Continuing on the same day members of cable theft unit got information of damaging and tempering with critical infrastructure at First Avenue trench. Members intercepted the point and secured the place, they managed to arrest two suspects. The South African male suspect charged with possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, Zimbabwean male suspect charged with contravention of elligal Immigration act, 2002(Act 13 of 2002)

Concurrently numerous drunk and driving operations were conducted in various regions to ensure high visibility and compliance with safe precaution measures that require the operator of the motor vehicle to adhere too on the public road. Region 1 sector 1 members conducted a drunk driving operation at Molefe Makinta Road to set a stigma of metro police with good result of nine arrests. Seperately five arrested for driving under the influence alcohol and four for public drinking source of danger to the public. Further issued AARTO infringements notices to motorist caught in the wrong side of the law in terms NRTA and issued AARTO notices.

Region 2 sector 2 heightened the visibility and enforcement of the law for public road users by conducting an impressive visible operation and side point check. Members inspected and searched 355 vehicles, issued 14 AARTO and effected arrest for driving under the influence intoxicating substance.

The all arrested suspects were detained at locals police stations.

The exceptional work by the TMPD members are to set the standards, assurance and awareness to the members of the public that their safety is our priority even on spare time of festive holidays compliance is our motion. Nothing has changed but more resilient into law enforcement.
