Wolseley SAPS arrests three suspects for possession of unlicensed firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm and possession of suspected stolen property

On Tuesday, 30 September 2025 at 10:20, members attached to Wolseley SAPS followed up information regarding a business robbery which was reported in September 2025. The information lead the members to Ceres and P.A. Hamlet where they found the vehicle used by the suspects travelling between Ceres and P.A. Hamlet. The vehicle was stopped and searched; however, nothing was found inside the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was questioned, and he informed the members that he borrowed his vehicle to a person who stays in P.A.Hamlet. He escorted the members to the residence of this person who was positively identified as one of the suspects in the business robbery case. He was immediately arrested.

Further information was followed up which lead the members to a premises in Nduli, Ceres. Last mentioned person was questioned and his residence was searched as well. Inside his residence two firearms a .38 special revolver with serial number removed and one imitation firearm were found. The firearms were seized and upon further searching they found liquor as well. The liquor was also seized.

The vehicle, firearms and liquor were handed in as exhibits.

The suspects aged 25, 37 and 39, will appear before the Wolseley Magistrate’s Court for possession of unlicensed firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm and possession of suspected stolen property once charged.

In an unrelated matter, members of Operation Shanela II were busy with stop and search operations in the Athlone area on 01 October 2025, when they stopped and searched a suspicious looking male in Voel Street, Vygieskraal, and found him in possession of 150 mandrax tablets. The 27-year-old suspect faces a charge for the possession of drugs.

Once charged he will appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court for the mentioned charge.
