WESTERN CAPE – The dedication by members of the South African Police Service to eradicate drugs and unlicensed firearms in the province resulted in the confiscation of drugs, firearms and ammunition.
Members of Operation Shanela II searched a premises in Gqathu Crescent, Site B, Khayelitsha, on Tuesday morning and arrested a 43-year-old male when they found a 9mm pistol with ammunition, mandrax tablets, crystal meth and dagga in the house. The suspect faces charges for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition and possession of drugs.
In an unrelated matter, members of the Anti-Gang Unit were conducting tracing operations when they searched a premises in Military Heights, Seawind, and arrested a 27-year-old male when they found a 9mm pistol with 24 rounds of ammunition in his possession. The suspect also faces two counts of murder charges.
Once charged the suspects will appear in the Khayelitsha and Muizenberg Magistrates’ Courts.
