On Wednesday, 17 September 2025 at about 20:50, members attached to #AntiGangUnit received information on a firearm hidden in a shack at a premises in Kylemore.
The members immediately operationalised the information and searched the premises and occupants. A bread bag containing 33 9mm rounds of ammunition was found in a small hole made in the ground. Upon further searching the shack, a black 9mm CZ pistol with serial number removed was found hidden in the mattress.
A 30-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.
A further search of the main residence led to the seizure of various quantities of drugs. A 23-year-old male was arrested.
Both suspects were detained at Groot Drakenstein SAPS and will make their respective court appearances in the Stellenbosch Magistrates court once charged.
