Police in Plooysburg made an arrest after receiving a complaint regarding alleged illegal hunting at a Nature Reserve

Police in Plooysburg received a complaint regarding alleged illegal hunting at a Nature Reserve in the area on Wednesday, 17 September 2025 at approximately 13:50.

Police swiftly responded and caught a suspect in the act of slaughtering a Kudu. The carcass of a Duiker was also found on the scene.

The 34-year-old male suspect was subsequently arrested on a charge of contravening the Nature Conservation Act 9 of 2009 pertaining to the illegal hunting of protected animals without a permit.

A second suspect is still at large.
