The Gauteng Counterfeit Unit, in collaboration with brand protectors, Gauteng crime prevention wardens, COJ Environmental Health, Commercial Crime unit, and National Consumer Council, has seized counterfeit goods worth R3 064 775.00 in operations across Gauteng.
From 1 to 4 September 2025, operations were conducted in Rosebank, Randburg, Randfontein, and Kempton Park, resulting in the confiscation of 7,656 counterfeit items, including cellphone accessories, toys, consumables, and clothing.
The team discovered a premises in Rosebank selling expired biscuits and sweets with falsified dates. The goods were confiscated, and three fines totalling R15 000.00 were issued by City of Johannesburg Environmental Health.
This operation demonstrates the police’s commitment to protecting consumers and combating the sale of counterfeit goods in the province.
